From the beginning, you will work directly with our project manager and his team, who are very passionate about their job.  Each and every member of our team and family have formal education and extensive training that puts them in a position to excel in the roles they have within APCS and to provide superior service to our clients. 

Loy Jones Senior Forester

obtained degree in natural resource management from Spokane College and forest management from Oregon State University.   Loy has 35+ years of experience in forestry, natural resource management, planning and the forest products business with experience in 26 countries on 5 continents.  His experience covers all aspects from planning a project to field implementation and comes from previous work experience with private companies; local, state and national governments; NGO’s and his own consulting firm in the Pacific Northwest of the United States.  His expertise includes:

  • Forest Planning
  • Landscape Spatial Planning;
  • Mensuration;
  • Environmental Impact Assessments ( including HCV);
  • Forest Engineering (roads and harvest systems);
  • Forest Management (unit, district, province levels);
  • Forest Manufacturing (field, primary, secondary);
  • Wildfire;
  • Forest Ecology;
  • Silviculture; and
  • Surface Mining.

For the last 12 years he focused on forest certification, verification of legality and sustainable forest management, with his last position serving as the President Director of PT SmartWood Indonesia and Manager of the Asia Pacific Region of Rainforest Alliance (RA).  He has experience managing FSC certified forest management and chain of custody (CoC), legality and carbon verification and validation, with clients in 26 countries within 5 continents and has served as a member/advisor to 6 FSC Regional Standard Working Groups.  He is a senior auditor for FSC forest management and chain of custody and ISO Lead Auditor qualified. Loy left Rainforest Alliance in 2010 to return to private practice and helped establish Asia Pacific Consulting Solutions.

Bertha Napitupulu President Director

studied economic development at Trisakti University in Jakarta, before she became a flight attendant for 6 years with Merpati Nusantara Airlines, Adam Air and Deraya Air.  She then obtained a communications degree at Undiknas University in Bali, before joining the APCS team in 2011 and has fast become a leader in project management, human resources and finance.

Hendrik Fernando Legal Officer

has a law degree focusing on private law from the Catholic University of Atma Jaya in Jakarta.  Prior to joining as the company legal officer he received field experience serving as a junior social HCV assessor on the Sinar Mas Forestry Project in Jambi.  Hendrik currently handles all legal affairs with national and local governments for the company as well as other project work with which he has special interest relating to conservation as time allows.

Christian Nahot Simanjuntak Project Manager

holds a Bachelor degree from Nasional University and a Master’s degree from University of Indonesia majoring in Biology with an emphasis on biodiversity and primates.   Nahot has five years of experience as a field biologist and researcher that covers ornithology, primates, elephants and the last 15 years focusing on orangutan and environmental monitoring and assessments.  His experience has primarily focused on Sumatera and Kalimantan and is author of a number of published and unpublished scientific papers relating to primates and biodiversity in natural forests in Indonesia.

James TR Simatupang Program Director

graduated with a forestry degree from Universitas Nusa Bangsa, Bogor and worked for 11 years in the forest industry before joining APCS.  His primary experience has been with a company that manages very large concessions in various regions in Indonesia and is one of the largest producers of pulp and paper in Indonesia.  His expertise and field experience includes:

  • Forest Planning
  • Environmental Impact Assessments (Residual Wood Assessment & Harvesting Quality Assessment)
  • Forest Engineering (Harvest Systems and Roads)
  • Forest Management
  • Planting and Maintenance
  • Wood Legality and Forestry License
  • Resolution of Social Conflict

Over the last two years of his time in the industry, his focus was on the responsible production of, and wood supply for pulp material, with close attention on legality.   In addition he has been extensively involved in audits for chain of custody (CoC), environmental, ISO, Timber Legality Verification System (SVLK), and internal audits for implementation of the applicable Standard Operating Procedures.  For the last year James served APCS as the Concession Manager for the Rimba Raya Biodiversity Conservation Project where he put into practice his desire to do more for conservation, protection and sustainable management of forests in Indonesia.

Fauzan Kurniawan Forestry Program Manager

Hold a master’s degree from Institut Pertanian Bogor majoring in Environmental and Natural Resources Management and worked over then 10 years in the Forestry Company, Palm oil plantation and Environmental Consulting.  He had 7 years experiences working as Sustainability Head Assistant and then as  Certification and IMS Lead auditor at PT. Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper, Forestry Division (APRIL Group) with focused on forest certification and internal auditor. He has experience verification and internal & 2nd party audit for FSC Certified Control Wood, PEFC – IFCC Forest Management Certified, Origine at Legalite des Bois (OLB) BV Certified for Forestry Companies, Sustainable Forest Management (PHPL) and Timber Legality Verification System (SVLK), Sustainable Plantation Forest Management by LEI, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 Integrated Management System, and OHSAS Lead Auditor qualified. Before joining with APCS he worked at PT.Sampoerna Agro, Tbk focusing in Sustainability program for Non Timber Forest Product   Sampoerna Agro has largest NTFP concession in Indonesia. Fauzan joining with APCS since August 2015 as Forestry Program Manager.

Eni Sriningsih Finance and Admin Supervisor

Eni Sriningsih, Graduated in 2008 from University of Teknologi Yogyakarta majoring in Accounting. She had worked as customer service representative of XL provider for almost 2 years before joining public accountant in Yogyakarta in the late of 2010. After having experience for more than 5 years in general auditing of financial report, she decided to join in to APCS team. She likes to make a friend, travel, and swim.

Muhammad Rio Adipradana GIS Specialist

graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Geography Information System and Regional Planning, the Geography Faculty of the University of Gadjah Mada. Rio has work experience as Landscape Surveyor Geospatial Oil Mining Consultant (Chevron), Mining Surveyor Coal Mining (Adaro), GIS Project (Satellite City and Mass Rapid Transportation) District Ampang Jaya - Kuala Lumpur, GIS and Infrastructure Assistant ( DSN Group), and Survey Coordinator Area Region Central Kalimantan (Triputra Agro Persada Group).

He really likes to do everything and work on the basis of "Team Work" because everything that is done together will be easier than the job that is done alone, it is more efficient and effective.

His hobbies are photography and traveling.
