Water and Their

July 8, 2020

In order to commemorate World Water Day which falls on March 22, we need to review the extent to which it has contributed to water maintenance so far. Water is indeed given free of charge by nature. We don't need to make it, just use it.

Staying use does not mean careless use. Humans assume that water will always be there, can’t be used up. But how come some regions have difficulty getting clean water, even to the point of drought? In fact, the amount of water on earth has never been reduced even though it is used continuously you know! Do you believe it or not? Then where has the water gone in some areas? Here's the explanation.

According to the law of conservation of mass, the number of elements is always constant in a closed system

Have you ever heard the sound of the law of eternity of the masses? The results of the ideas of 2 great scientists Antoine Lavoisier and Mikhail Lomosonov read, "the mass of matter in a closed system is always constant, even though there are various processes in it." The analogy is this, when you make a cup of tea, the amount of substances in tea, sugar, and water before brewing is the same as the result of the mixture. The difference is, the sugar has dissolved, the tea releases some of its compounds in the water, and the water is no longer pure. That is, the amount of water on earth will always remain. But it can change shape into a cup of tea water, ice cubes, evaporate due to high temperatures, or mixed as a constituent of solid objects.

If it's not liquid, isn't it called water?

When it has changed shape, can water not be called water anymore? At the molecular level or a smaller, invisible form, water is composed of chemically bound hydrogen and oxygen molecules. Then 10 grams of water will be the same as 10 grams of oxygen and its constituent hydrogen. So even if it changes shape, the number of components making up water will remain the same. For example, you mix 10 grams of water in a cake mixture. If it is broken down to the molecular level, 10 grams of the total oxygen and hydrogen in the cake comes from the water.

Then where does some water go on earth?

By listening to the explanation above, we can conclude that some water has changed shape. And ironically, there has not been a massive effort to recycle water so that it can be reused optimally. Water storage areas are transformed into agricultural land and plantations, then offices, housing, and other infrastructure. Even an increase in the number of births also affects the water level you know. How can? Water is an important component in the human body. For adult humans, 60% of their body weight is composed of water. This percentage is greater in infants and toddlers, which is around 70-78%. Theoretically, the more people there are the more water stored in the form of body weight.

The earth has been trying to maintain balance, but humans are actually worry.

In recent years there has been widespread news of the melting of polar ice caps, which has caused a rise in sea water. This phenomenon makes many people wary, especially those who live in the area around the coast. Land area will certainly be reduced if part of it is submerged in water. But did you know that melting polar ice is the earth's effort to maintain balance? Warmer temperatures stimulate melting of polar ice caps. It is human activity that causes this temperature rise.In fact, humans panic. Why is that? Because the land is increasingly full of infrastructure, there is no more adequate place to hold water. Swamps are drained for building land, many rivers also dry up by themselves.

No water is lost, just not treated properly. So actually there is no water lost right?

Only changed form due to the pattern of human life itself. The temperature of the earth is getting hotter because of the many burning activities, but it is not balanced with greening. No wonder a lot of water evaporates. While the existing water supply is not well distributed. It takes innovation in processing technology to make it more efficient and efficient. So, what have you contributed so far?
